adantha thelvad vayya...App server ki DB single node connect cheyyalante..regular generic data source with Thin Driver configure cheskovale...RAC aithe regular datasources create chesi with multi data source lo ee nodes with vip add cheyyale..

I never thought I was requesting those 5 extra vips on a 3-node Oracle RAC for this Failovertask..

I thought this Fail-over is always done manually between the Dat acentres. and those additional VIPS requested were for making the connection between the APP server and the Data base..


But this is something new to know that The Cross connection of Datacentres can also happen via VIPs.

coorrect me if I understood wrong in terms of Datacentre..


Are we discussing about Failoer between the nodes in the RAC rather than a Failover between Datacentre????

[/quote]yup .. each node will have its own vip .. but still .. u r accessing the same data source using different ip's .. u do that because.. if failover happens .. ur weblogic server can still connect to other nodes which are still accessible eventhough one node is down

adhi kuda fail kaaledhu antey maaku inka jobs ekkuva rojuu undavu saami..

eppudu edho oka error vasheyney kada Engineer tho pani undedhi..

so how scan in RAC differes fromVIP.both are used for load balancing and failover.
