but pollard looks washed up.....not the player like he was before...seems like a waste of a spot..but MI always seems attached to their players....

Yup time n again fail autunadu

especially when MI has pandya brothers as finishers, cant really see pollard getting fair bit of chances, he doesnt bowl that often, n his variety will be taken apart in indian pitches

ya bowling baga tagginchesadu and eppudaina 1-2 overs try cheste bhariga kottaru..and MI has already 6 genuine bowling options without him...batting baga failing...he is a liability for the MI team....

Does Sourav Ganguly want Delhi Daredevils to snap up Joe Root for Indian Premier League 2019?

IPL 2019: Former Indian captain might have hinted towards a possible solution to Delhi Daredevils' batting conundrum in the IPL by suggesting Joe Root's name.

England captain Joe Root slammed a magnificent century in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka on Friday. His impressive innings caught the eye of former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly who was all praise for the stylish right-hander after witnessing his remarkable knock. Root, who hasn't had the best of outings against Sri Lanka until Friday, looked in splendid touch with the bat as he brought up his 14th Test hundred in style.

Ganguly not only hailed the heroic knock by the English skipper but also seemed to be suggesting Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Daredevils to pick the English batsman in the upcoming auctions. In his tweet lauding Root, Ganguly tagged Delhi Daredevils co-owner Parth Jindal, probably indicating he should look up to Root to solve the franchise's long-standing middle order conundrum in the IPL.

"What a performance from Joe root and England on that surface ..one of the best test hundreds one will see on a pitch which is turning square .. @root66 @ParthJindal11 @ECB_cricket," Ganguly wrote on Twitter. His tweet left some fans wondering why he had tagged Jindal but some ardent Delhi fans were quick to point out what the former skipper meant.

Root slammed a brilliant 124 off 146 deliveries on the third day of the second Test against Sri Lanka. His innings was laced with ten boundaries and two sixes. One of the most technically sound batsmen in the world, Root is a delight to watch when in full swing. However, his inability to hit the biggies is something which has eluded him an IPL contract for a while now.

Root has never been picked in the IPL by any of the franchises. But Delhi, who have never made it past the knockouts in past one decade, might see their fortunes change if they invest on the English captain, at least that's what Ganguly believes. Delhi swapped three players namely Abhishek Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem and Vijay Shankar for Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan from Sunrisers Hyderabad before the closing of the IPL retention window and it will be interesting to see which players they pick in the auctions.

The Daredevils have also parted ways with veteran Gautam Gambhir and some big names in their release list featuring Jason Roy, Junior Dala, Liam Plunkett, Mohammed Shami, Sayan Ghosh, Daniel Christian, Glenn Maxwell, Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Naman Ojha.

Could Steve Smith and David Warner miss complete IPL 12?

IPL Season 12: Steven Smith and David Warner were retained by their respective franchises but they are now in danger of missing the full season of the T20 league due to the latest update.

Steven Smith David Warner IPL

Indian Premier League franchises Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad might suffer a big blow as Steven Smith and David Warner, who were retained by their respective franchises, could miss the full IPL season and even if they play the tournament, they might not be available for more than two weeks. As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, the ODI series between Australia and Pakistan could be shifted to the month of April from March. This will allow Australia to test Smith and Warner before they announce their squad for World Cup 2019.

Should the series be shifted to April, it might see them missing the April leg of IPL as well. Since their bans are scheduled to end in the last week of March, they will not be able to play the March leg of the tournament and if selected in the ODI squad, it will automatically rule them for the majority of matches in April as well.

Cricket Australia had already confirmed that the players would need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the league and they would not be allowed to miss the Sheffield Shield and Pakistan series. Also, players will have to make an early return to the country for the pre-World Cup camp.

There are likely chances of the Australian players missing the majority of IPL. A lot will depend on the fixtures of the ODI series against Pakistan. It will decide the availability of Aussies for the IPL.

The latest update could very well see top players like Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch go unsold in the IPL auction, primarily due to the availability issues. They have already been released by their respective franchises and they might not find a buyer as well. The auction for the upcoming season of the league will take place next month.
