As of now, the total number of cases stand at 87,68,285, while the fatalities increased to 4,63,999. With 22,54,630 cases and 1,19,714 deaths, the US continues with the world's highest number of Covid-19 infections and fatalities. The toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 13,254 with 1,69,451 reported active cases and 2,27,755 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far. Kool_SRG Posted June 21, 2020 Author Report Share Posted June 21, 2020 Dharavi's doubling rate down from 18 days in April to 78 days in June, says health ministry Densely- populated Dharavi region of Mumbai had 491 cases in April with a 12 percent growth rate and a case doubling period of 18 days. The proactive measures adopted by BMC reduced the COVID-19 growth rate to 4.3 percent in May 2020 and further to 1.02 percent in June. These measures also ensured an improved case doubling time to 43 days in May 2020 and 78 days in June, said the Union health ministry. The first case was reported in China in early January and it took until mid-May to reach 4.5 million cases. It has taken just five weeks to double to 9 million cases, the tally shows. The United States leads the world with the highest number of infections, at about 2.2 million or 25% of all reported cases. The tally shows the disease is spreading fastest in Latin America, which now accounts for 23% of all cases. Brazil has the second most cases behind the United States, and India is on track to overtake Russia as the third most affected country by cases. "The players had shown no symptoms until they were tested in Rawalpindi on Sunday ahead of Pakistan men’s national cricket team’s tour to England," the statement said.
