141 new cases in Andhra Pradesh take state's total to 4,402

Andhra Pradesh reported 141 new corona virus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 4,402, said the state health department on Friday. The figure includes 1,723 active cases.

So far, lives of 80 people have been claimed due to the viral infection.

Doubling time improves to 17.4 days in India, says Centre

The Union health ministry on Friday said that the doubling time of corona virus cases in India has improved to 17.4 days currently from 15.4 days a couple of weeks ago.

Centre says COVID-19 recovery rate rises to 49.47%

The Centre said the recovery rate of corona virus patients in India has increased to 49.47 percent and a total of 1,47,194 individuals have recovered from the deadly disease in the country, News18 reported..

Tamil Nadu reports another big surge in cases

On Friday, Tamil Nadu reported 1,982 new cases taking total number of confirmed cases to 40,698.

A total of 1,342 persons were discharged on Friday taking the total to 22,047.

The State also reported 18 more deaths taking the toll to 367.

India's COVID-19 mortality rate at 2.9%

India reported a surge in the COVID-19 fatalities, adding 386 deaths in the past 24 hours. This took the toll across the nation to 8,884 on Saturday. At present, India's COVID-19 mortality rate is at 2.9 percent.

 

India's total recoveries exceed active cases for fourth consecutive day after 1.54 lakh patients recover 

For the fourth consecutive day, the number of recoveries have exceeded the total number of active COVID-19 cases in India after 1,54,330 patients were cured of the infectious disease as on Saturday. 

Of the 3,08,993 cases, there are 1,45,779 active cases, said the health ministry on Saturday.

India's COVID-19 cases cross three lakh 

India registered a record-jump of 11,458 new corona virus cases taking the overall count to more than three lakh on Saturday. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases climbed to 3,08,993.

COVID-19 toll rises to 8,884 after 386 more succumb to virus

After 386 COVID-19 deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, India's COVID-19 toll climbed to 8,884 on Saturday, according to the latest date released by the health ministry.

Over 55 lakh COVID-19 samples tested till now, more than 1.43 lakh in past 24 hrs: ICMR  

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 55,07,182 COVID-19 samples have been tested as on Saturday till 9 am. While, in the past 24 hours, 1,43,737 samples were tested, ICMR said.

1,233 cops recover from COVID-19 in Mumbai, 334 of them resume duty, says Anil Deshmukh

At least 1,233 members of the Mumbai Police recover from the novel corona virus as of Saturday, said Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Of the, 334 cops have returned to duty. 

"A total of 1233 policemen from the Mumbai Police Force have successfully defeated  COVID-19. 334 of them have returned to duty. Congratulations to these corona warriors. I am proud of the Mumbai Police who risk their lives to perform their duties diligently," state home minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted.

222 new COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh 

Andhra Pradesh reported 5,858 corona virus positive cases on Saturday after 222 more individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Two more fatalities were also reported in Krishna district, taking the COVID-19 toll in the state to 82.

Maharashtra becomes the first state to restrict the costs of testing

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Saturday said that the government has reduced the rates of the COVID-19 tests conducted by private laboratories from Rs 4,500 to Rs 2,200. Talking to PTI, Tope said the lowering of rates for the tests would provide a relief to the people.
"Rs 2,200 will be charged for collecting the swabs through viral transport media (VTM) from hospitals, while it would cost Rs 2,800 for collection of swab from home. Earlier, the charges were Rs 4,500 and Rs 5,200 respectively," he said.

China reports 66 new COVID-19 cases after sudden spike in Beijing

China has reported 66 new corona virus cases, the largest since the disease was controlled in its first epicentre Wuhan in April, prompting the authorities to go into a "wartime" mode to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the capital Beijing which has seen a sudden spike in the number of infections, health officials said on Sunday.

The officials of the China's National Health Commission (NHC) said that 57 new confirmed COVID-19 infections, including 38 domestically transmitted, were reported on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, nine new asymptomatic cases were reported, it said. Currently, 103 people with asymptomatic symptoms are kept under quarantine.

India registers 11,929 new cases, 311 deaths in past 24 hours

India reports 11,929 new cases, the highest single-day spike, including 311 more fatalities. The total number of cases has now gone up to 3,20,922, and the toll is at 9,195.

The reported active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 1,49,348 with as many as 1,62,378 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

 

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu remain worst-hit

With 1.04 lakh COVID-19 cases, Maharashtra has reported the highest number of infections, followed by Tamil Nadu (42,687), Delhi (38,958) and Gujarat (23,038).

ICMR has tested over 56 lakh samples so far

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 56,58,614 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till 9.00 am today. Of these, 1,51,432 were tested in the last 24 hours.
