Karnataka has no COVID-19 patients on ventilator: BS Yediyurappa

No COVID-19 patients in Karnataka is on the ventilator, said chief minister BS Yediyurappa. "There are enough Personal Protective Equipment kits in the state. We have placed an order for 9 lakhs PPE kits, of which 1 lakh have already been delivered," said the chief minister.

Wife of AIIMS doctor, who tested positive for COVID-19, gives birth to healthy baby 

Amid fear and panic over the coronavirus pandemic, wife of AIIMS' resident doctor who tested positive for COVID-19, delivered a healthy baby boy in Delhi on Friday night.

The resident doctor posted at the physiology department at the medical institute was found infected with the coronavirus. Within, few hours of his diagnostic test, his expecting wife was also confirmed positive with the infection.

Dr DK Sharma, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS told ANI, "The mother delivered a healthy baby through a cesarean delivery on Friday night. Our doctors followed proper protocol during her delivery. They wore Personal Protection Equipment and all pieces of equipment used were disinfected. The team of doctors headed by Dr Neerja Batla conducted the delivery of a baby."

16-yr-old Tablighi member tests positive in Chhattisgarh's Korba

A 16-year-old boy, who is a member of Tablighi Jamaat, tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Chhattisgarh's Korba district on Saturday, officials said.

However, it is not clear whether he had attended the religious congregation in Delhi's Nizabackn in March, they said.

This case has taken the number of COVID-19 patients in Chhattisgarh to 10. However, four of them have been discharged from hospitals following their recovery till Friday, the officials said.

13 new cases found in Haryana's Palwal

A total of 13 positive cases were detected in Haryana's Palwal, reports News18 Haryana. District Commissioner of Palwal said that nine villages have been marked as containment zones and 27 villages have been declared buffer zones. A total of 45 teams of Asha and ANM workers have been deployed for thermal screening, and the area of these villages has been sealed, he added.

Kerala to begin rapid testing tomorrow, says KK Shailaja

"Nine labs are conducting polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests in Kerala. We've received 2000 rapid test kits and will start rapid tests from tomorrow. If a person tests positive in rapid test, we need to confirm it with the PCR test," ANI quotes state health minister KK Shailaja as saying.

Confirmed cases surge to 537 in Maharashtra

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said with 47 new cases being identified in the state, the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 537, including 50 who have been cured and discharged.

31 Jamaat event attendees test positive in Agra

1,023 cases from 17 states linked to Tablighi Jamaat, says health ministry

Aggarwal also said that 1,023 cases across 17 states have been found to be linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event held in Delhi in March." Out of the total cases in the country, around 30 percent are linked to one particular place," he said. An MHA official added that around 22,000 Tablighi Jamaat workers and their contacts have been quarantined across the country.

12 deaths, 601 new cases in last 24 hours, says health ministry

In its daily press briefing, the Union health ministry said  that till now there are 2,902 COVID19 positive cases in India. "601 positive cases have been reported since yesterday, 12 deaths also reported yesterday taking total deaths to 68. 183 people have recovered/discharged," said Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry

Of 1,529 COVID-19 tests in Assam, 812 in connection with Tablighi Jamaat event: Himanta Sarma

In five testing labs of Assam, a total of 1,529 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted so far, said Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Health Minister.

Of these, 1308 samples have been tested negative, 25 positive and the results of 196 are awaited.

"Among the 1308 people tested, 812 were in connection with the Nizam-mudin Markaz," said Sarma.

33 percent of COVID-19 patients in 41-60 age group: Health Ministry

 

Giving a age-wise break up of Coronavirus patients in the country,  Lav Aggrawal, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry, said: "Nine per cent COVID19 patients belong to 0-20 years age, 42 percent patients belong to 21-40 years age, 33 percent cases pertain to patients between 41-60 years age, and 17 percent patients have crossed 60 years of age."
