Spain's COVID-19 toll falls for second day in row

Spain’s toll from the coronavirus rose to 11,744 on Saturday from 10,935 the previous day, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, though it was the second straight day in which the daily number of new deaths had fallen.

A total of 809 people died from the disease over the past 24 hours, down from 932 in the previous period, the figures showed.

Telangana official tests positive for Covid-19, booked for cover-up

Police said on Saturday that a Telangana government official has been booked for not disclosing his attendance at the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi last month. He official had tested positive for Covid-19.

144 Covid-19 cases in Karnataka

There are a total cases of 144 Covid-19 cases in Karnataka. Till now, four have died of the disease and 11 have been cured and discharged.

Latest figures: 21 positive cases reported in Rajasthan today

Two more people tested positive on Saturday in Rajasthan's Bharatpur. Both the patients are Tablighi Jamaat attendees.

Latest figures: 231 active Covid-19 cases in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, there are 231 active Covid-19 cases currently in the state. Of these, 21 patients have been discharged. With a total of 227 reported in the state, 94 cases belong to the Tabliqi Jamaat attendees. 3,029 people have been quarantined.

Traced 9 lakh people so far: Maharashtra health minister

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said: "Till now, we have traced around 9 lakh people with the help of 2,495 teams. These teams are working in 290 containment zones that we have marked in Mumbai and likewise in other districts. I urge people to cooperate with health workers."

Permission was given earlier to hold Tableeghi Jamaat event in Maharashtra, later denied: Uddhav Thackeray

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said permission was earlier given to conduct Tableeghi Jamaat event in the state but it was later denied owing to the rising COVID-19 cases. 

"We didn’t let what happened in Delhi happen in Maharashtra. Tableeghi Jamaat event was permitted earlier, but later looking at the situation we denied permission. Authorities now have traced all those went to the Delhi event from our state," said Thackeray.

Lifting lockdown in Maharashtra depends on people's compliance to norms: Uddhav Thackeray

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said that lifting of lock down in the state after 14 April will be dependent upon the compliance by people to the government directives to stop the spread of corona virus.

He also said that no permission will be granted to any religious or sporting events in the state till further notice to avoid mingling of people amid corona virus outbreak.

The chief minister also warned of strict action against those who spread communally divisive messages on social media.

Coronavirus in Mumbai: Four cases in Dharavi

Two new cases on Saturday including a 30-year old woman has tested positive in Dharavi. She has no travel history. The woman is a resident of Baliga Nagar where the first positive case was found. A 48 year old male patient tested positive in Mukund Nagar, Dharavi and is admitted in Sion Hospital. Contact tracing is in process. All high risk contact will be tested and symptomatic patients will be shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Sports complex Dharavi. Mukund Nagar has been sealed.

Meanwhile, at Baliga Nagar, 56-year old patient died. His close contacts like his wife, daughters, son, his doctor have tested negative. One more positive patient was found in the same society. A health camp has been set up at Dr Baliga Nagar and all symptomatic cases swab will be taken and sent for testing.

Tamil Nadu reports 74 fresh cases

Tamil Nadu recorded 74 new coronavirus cases, taking the total to 485, ANI quotes states health secretary Beela Rajesh as saying. 73 of the new cases are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi, she said.

Andhra Pradesh reports 10 new cases

According to data released by the Andhra Pradesh health department, 10 new COVID-19 cases were reported today, taking the tally to 190.
