GoM meeting over COVID-19 underway at Health Ministry

A Union Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting over COVID-19 is underway at the Health and Family Welfare Ministry. Senior Ministers present in the meeting include Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.

With an increase of 3,967 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the number of coronavirus cases reached 81,970 cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday.

Tamil Nadu crosses 10,000 mark

Tamil Nadu's total tally has crossed the 10,000-mark with 434 new cases emerging today and 5 deaths. The total cases have risen to 10,108 and the total death count in the state has risen to 71. Chennai has recorded 309 cases, taking the total number of cases in the city to 5,947.

COVID-19 cases in Mumbai's Dharavi go up by 84 to 1,145

The tally of COVID-19 patients in Dharavi, Mumbai's biggest slum sprawl, increased to 1,145 on Friday after 84 more persons tested positive for the infection, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said.

However, no new death was reported in Dharavi in the last 24 hours, the official said. The death toll in this slum is 53, the official said.

India's Covid-19 death toll surged to 2,752 with the number of cases crossing the 85,000-mark. A spike of 3,970 cases & 103 deaths reported in India in last 24 hours.

Andhra Pradesh reports 48 cases in 24 hours

Andhra Pradesh reported 48 new corona virus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total to 2,205. The figure includes 803 active cases, 49 deaths and 1,353 cured persons.

Cases in Karnataka climb to 1,092, toll reaches 36

 
36 new COVID19 positive cases were reported in Karnataka today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 1,092 - including 496 discharged and 36 deaths, ANI quotes the state health department as saying.

West Bengal reports seven deaths, 115 new cases

 Seven more COVID-19 fatalities were recorded in West Bengal, raising the death toll to 160 in the state, while 115 new cases pushed the virus count to 2,576, Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay said on Saturday.The state has so far attributed 72 other deaths to comorbid health conditions, where the novel corona virus was incidental. At least 115 new COVID-19 cases have been reported since Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 2,576, he said. Since Friday evening, 63 people have been discharged from different hospitals after recovering from the infection, leaving 1,452 active cases in the state, the home secretary added.

Case count in Uttar Pradesh touches 4,140

With 83 more testing positive for coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, the number of total infected cases till date rose to 4,140 in the state, reports PTI. "Out of 4,140 total cases, the total number of active cases in the state now is 1,718 as 2,327 people have been cured and discharged,” said Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad. With no death reported on the day, Prasad put the total COVID-19 fatalities in the state at 95.

Eleven more test positive in Kerala

11 new corona virus cases were reported in Kerala today — fou from Thrissur, three from Kozhikode, two each from Palakkad and Malappuram districts. There are 87 active cases in the state now, ANI quotes Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja as saying.us.
 

All the 11 people had come from outside the state. While seven had come from abroad, two each had come from Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, she said.

Three more COVID-19 deaths in Tamil Nadu, toll now 74; 477 test positive

Three people succumbed to COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu on Saturday while 477 tested positive, taking the infection tally to 10,585, the state health department said.  The fatalities include a 74-year-old man. With this, the death toll in the state has risen to 74, state health minister C Vijaya Baskar said. Chennai continues to lead with the majority of positive cases among districts at 332, he said. Briefing reporters, the minister said of the 477 newly infected, 93 were those who arrived from other countries and states.
