Essential services providers can now apply for e-pass on Delhi Police website

Delhi Police on Saturday rolled out the provision for essential service providers to obtain their e-passes through its website. Individuals can register and apply for their e-passes on Delhi Police’s website.

“Everyone who deals in essential commodities and does not have a pass yet can now apply online through the Delhi Police website,” Delhi police PRO MS Randhawa said.

People can also apply for the passes physically through the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s office.

Tata Trusts pledges Rs 500 crore for COVID-19 relief fund

The Tata Trusts pledged to contribute Rs 500 crore for COVID-19 relief fund on Saturday. The contribution will be used for buying personal protective equipment for medical personnel, respiratory systems for treating increasing cases, testing kits, setting up modular treatment facilities and training of health workers.

Taking to Twitter, Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Sons, said, "The COVID 19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past risen to the needs of the nation. At this moment, the need of the hour is greater than any other time."

Chennai cop wears 'Corona helmet' to spread awareness

In a bid to spread awareness about the severity of the coronavirus pandemic, a local artist in collaboration with a Chennai Police official here has made a unique 'Corona' helmet to dissuade commuters from coming out on the streets during the nationwide lockdown.

Gowtham, the artist, who designed the helmet told ANI , "The public at large is not treating the COVID-19 situation seriously, whereas, the police personnel are working round the clock to ensure people stay at home and do not venture out so that further spread of the disease can be stopped,"

"I came up with the idea and used a broken helmet and papers to prepare this. I have also prepared many placards displaying slogans and handed them over to the police," he added.

The police personnel, who are serving 24/7 on the streets, said that the helmet was proving to be useful in making people aware.

Delhi Police bring ration to senior citizen's residence in Saidulajab 

A 73-year-old resident of Saidulajab who couldn't step out of her residence to collect ration in view of 21-day nationwide shutdown due to COVID-19 was in a fix as her son stayed in the United Kingdom. The Delhi Police came to her help and delivered the food items she needed.

Residents of Patel Nagar in Delhi hand out food to migrant workers walking home

With no way to earn a living and all public transport halted in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for 21-day nationwide shutdown, migrant daily-wage labourers have been worst hit. He will be left stranded, with no choice but to undertake long journeys across the country to their homes on foot.

Thousands are walking long distances to go back to their homes after all transport was stopped except for essential services.

22 fresh cases reported in Mumbai in last 24 hours

22 fresh cases of Covid-19 positive patients have been reported in Mumbai in the last 24 hours. This includes a 7-month-old baby and a one-year-old boy.

Out of 22 new patients, 16 people are close contacts of patients who tested positive, 4 patients have travel history. 2 patients don't have travel history or close contacts.

UAE imposes hefty fines for flouting quarantine rules

The United Arab Emirates imposed several new fines for people who do not abide by quarantine rules, the latest effort in the country to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Anyone who leaves their house for reasons unrelated to work or for necessity will be fined $544, according to the Public Prosecution Attorney General.

According to Al Arabiya English an indivudual was fined for going on walk in compound in The Springs in Dubai before the 8 pm weekend curfew.
