Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated on Tuesday the first leg of the Hyderabad Metro rail project from the Miyapur rail station.

The 30 km-long first phase of the project between Miyapur and Nagole has 24 stations. Its commercial operations will start on Wednesday.

2:53 pm: Mr. Modi reaches the helipad at Miyapur after inaugurating and travelling in the Hyderabad Metro. He will head to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

2:50 pm: K.V.S. Giri captures the inaugural run of Hyderabad Metro

2:45 pm: The metro rail reaches Kukatpally station, a journey of 12 km, in 10 minutes. The Prime Minister alights along with entourage.  He travels back to Miyapur

2:35 pm: The Metro will be open to public from tomorrow. The minimum ticket fare is ₹10 and maximum is ₹60. Commuters can also opt for Metro Smart cards priced at ₹200, including a deposit of ₹100.

2:31 pm: Hyderabad Metro Rail's  first journey between Miyapur and Kukatpally begins with Mr. Modi, Mr. Rao, and Governor ESL Narasimhan as its commuters.

2:30 pm: Prime Minister flags off the Metro Rail. He also unveils the mobile app  ‘TSavaari’.

The mobile app would provide a comprehensive transport solution, with information on all modes of transport for a journey whether it is a TSRTC bus, MMTS train, and metro trains.

Commuters downloading the app would get an update on the nearest TSRTC bus stops and efforts have been on to provide live information on the bus frequency.

Apart from ticket tokens that can be purchased at counters at all the stations, a prepaid card of ₹200 would be made available for passengers.

2:20 pm: After inauguration, the Metro will be an ‘open monument’ accessible to all citizens amid the landscaped greenery and public plaza being developed by HMR. The three arches coming out of a water pond reflect the three metro rail corridors. The arch designed as a rail track vanishes into infinity, signifying future expansion.

2:17 pm: Hyderabad Metro Rail’s inaugural pylon reflects the hoary heritage of the city even while presenting a contemporary look.

2:15 pm: The Prime Minister's chopper lands at Miyapur.
