example ?

every empire that has destroyed itself, lost in wars is an example of destruction of a certain kind of system and tradition with its own rules.

the new rulers bring their own set of rules and ideas which bring much needed boost to the region's commerce, with new middle management, even new religion/language in some occasions, but they also suffer the same fate a few years later. become a wasteful system that just exists because no one has still figured out how to destroy it.

As long as the money flows, most people don't notice the inefficiencies in the system. But systems that don't accept constant feedback are bound to fail. However well thought out its 'rules' are. The larger the system, the worse its destruction will be.

especially if the middle management (upper middle class assholes) are smug about the completeness of their particular rules, their system will collapse 100% once the money (again a made up thing and part of the system that hinges on trust between various institutions) runs out.

rules are bad. consensus slightly better. anarchism seems to be the most natural state. but for practical reasons, anarchism doesnt seem to work well (its so complicated to model even for smaller cooperating groups). so we'll atleast have to design robust feeback mechanisms, and accept course correction everytime we go wrong. Still the system is bound to fail, hopefully more people will make it out of it alive than not.

what will the serve the society is not its rules, but the level to which it is flexible.

rules, tradition are all recipe for a huge disaster.
