how do you classify a genocide? most stretched out estimates put the number of kashmiri hindus killed during the period from 1990 to 2004 is at 1400. If that is classified as genocide, then India has had multiple genocides of muslims where that number of muslims were killed within weeks.

home ministry puts the death toll of Kashmiri Pandits at around 200 during that particular militancy period. How can this be considered genocide?

I'd classify something as a genocide based on whether the mass coordinated killings happened with the support of the state.

based on that classification, Kashmir was under governor's rule at that time, and there's no question of state support for the militants. But there was enough logistical and ideological support from local muslims. whether its classified as genocide or not is debatable.

I'd classify Gujarat 2002 as genocide of muslims since police actively participated in rounding off and killing muslims.

I'd classify Nellie 1987 massacre of Muslims by assamese nationalists as genocide.

anyway this conversation is bs. even if it was genocide (according to you), question must be raised at the Indian govt for rehabilitation of those affected. Not start a new cycle of hate and violence based on ethnicity and religion or what not.

punish those who participated in genocide and provide help to those that were affected. that's the job of the govt.
