Tough for KCR in Gajwel

Despite the predictions of various surveys which indicated a TRS wave in Telangana, the ground reality seems to be different. Especially in many of rural parts of Telangana, there is anti-incumbency against the ruling government and this may make it difficult for TRS.

Even in Gajwel constituency, represented by KCR himself, said to have a tough fight in the coming elections. Apparently, KCR's rival Pratap Reddy would be pitted against him by the grand alliance. Talk in the constituency is that Pratap Reddy would make it very tough for KCR. 

Even the arithmetic is favouring the Congress-TDP-TJS' grand alliance. Back in 2014, KCR had won with a majority of 19,391 votes against the TDP candidate Vanteru Pratap Reddy. While 86,694 votes (44.42 percent) were polled for KCR in 2014 in Gajwel, Pratap Reddy got 67,303 votes (34.48 percent). And then sitting MLA Tumkunta Narsa Reddy had got 34,085 (17.46 Percent). Now that Narsa Reddy is in TRS and Pratap Reddy is in Congress and likely to contest with the support of TDP, TJS and others in Gajwel.

Talk is that Pratap Reddy is leaving no leaf unturned to take on KCR and is doing all efforts to give competition to CM KCR. His availability to local people and his connections, contacts in the constituency may work in favour of Pratap Reddy. Whereas KCR as the Chief Minister has an advantage in Gajwel. His developmental activities and works have an impact. Congress 2014 candidate jumping into TRS may also help KCR. These are the pros and cons for KCR in Gajwel.

However, yes, there is an edge for TRS. Still, the election is not one-side and even KCR has to work hard to win in Gajwel. One has to wait and see what's in people's mind.
