because those educated 'pulkas' are not the majority. but pulkas are everywhere. in Andhra/TG. a very powerful influential minority. The fight is about who controls the pulka movement, and taps into the disillusionment of the entitled middle class.

You're saying entire middle class educated family irrespective of caste became pulkidified because of pacha media? Then @kdapparao has a lot of work to depulkidify them.

No. not because of the media. Its innate ideology of Telugus.

Like dravidianism for Tamils. the ideology that captured the middle class imagination during India's move to neoliberalism in early 90s is the pulka'ism for Andhras. Dravidianism for Tamils.

millions of middle class who benefited from the move are grateful to it, and will stay loyal to it. The media just taps into this for their own benefit. Its not the media that created pulkas. but its the pulkas that created today's AP/TG media landscape.

I kind of agree with that. Most people who are strongly pulka that I know personally are not even from CBN's caste. But they follow the media houses that show TDP in a positive light. They probably don't have any more voting power to make any influential change.

caste has nothing to do with being pulka. I'm not kamma. and every single person in our family (an upper middle class family) will vouch for CBN.

TG also pulka effect, but there it is captured by some other group of castes.

Its basically a manifestation of neoliberalism. shrinking of public sector, and subsidization of the private sector. Whoever benefits from this supports it. Every single person who supports the current govt in power in TG is a pulka. they just don't know it.

The choice is

1. pulka

2. feudal pos (see veerigadu's insane casteist posts. sick fcuker)

its better to be pulka than be veerigadu kind of asshole.

Most pulkas will vote for BJP because TDP lost it's shine. I would hate for all the aspirations of the educated middle class go into religious fanatism. Because, this aspirational middle class have always had religious pride in them but didn't show it off because of societal norms. Unfortunately, TDP which put religious fanatism at bay, lost it's shine. And now BJP, with their extremely bigotry statements is making them be okay with their religious pride and making them brainless bigots.
